The Speyside Way between Fochabers and Ballindalloch and between Nethybridge and Aviemore is suitable for cycling. Between Boat of Garten and Aviemore, the route is shared with a section of the SUSTRANS millennium cycle way. The 'off road' sections between Ballindalloch and Tomintoul, and between Ballindalloch and Cromdale cannot sustain cycle traffic, and we ask you to avoid them. Between Ballindalloch (Delnapot) and Cromdale an alternative exists using the B9102. Cyclists are asked at all times to ensure that they use the route in a way which does not cause damage to the track surface, or cause inconvenience or danger to users on foot or horseback. See SOAC advice to cyclists

It must be remembered that the Speyside Way is largely unsurfaced, and primarily intended for use by pedestrians. Cyclists must therefore use the route in a way which does not cause excessive damage to the track surface, or cause inconvenience for, or danger to, users on foot. Cyclists MUST give way to pedestrians. Please also remember that horse riders may be encountered on the Old Railway between Dufftown and Ballindalloch. Take care not to alarm horses by taking sudden or unexpected actions, but also remember that standing still and partly hidden beside the track may well cause more alarm to a horse than moving slowly in full view.

Please make sure you enjoy your cycle run on the Speyside Way, and ensure that you do not inconvenience others, by following the Code of Conduct : -

Do NOT ride past pedestrians in such a manner as to cause them to jump aside, or to feel threatened by your actions.

If you come across a muddy section of the track,
DO NOT RIDE YOUR BIKE THROUGH IT.
Get off, and wheel your cycle on the
driest line, to minimise damage to the surface.

DO NOT ride in a group
in such a way as to occupy
the whole width of the track.

DO NOT ride at high speed. You never know who or what is around the next corner. Any form of racing or time trialling is completely forbidden.

You MUST ensure that your
bicycle is fitted with an audible
warning device, such as a bell
or hooter. Please let walkers
know
you are there.
