Moray Council’s Arts Development Team are offering young people aged 12 years and over the opportunity to take part in a new initiative called “MY Theatre”.
MY Theatre is aimed at young people interested in all aspects of theatre and it is hoped it will provide a focus and support for youth theatre development in the Moray area.
As part of this initiative, a course will take place this Easter, which will give participants the rare opportunity to spend four days with a team of arts professionals. Working on all the aspects of staging live theatre and using themes and ideas from Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’, participants will create their own performance piece. Drama, Music, Design and Performance will all be covered and it is hoped that the piece will be developed for a Youth Theatre Festival at the MacRobert Theatre in Stirling this July.
The course takes place from 29th March to 1st April in Elgin Town hall and costs £20. No experience is necessary just lots of enthusiasm and a commitment to have a go. This is a wonderful opportunity to have fun and meet new people.
Anyone wishing to take part should contact Caroline Coomber, Assistant Leisure Officer on 01343 557146 or e-mail caroline.coomber@moray.gov.uk.
