On 4 April 2005 the Moray Council will introduce a new Housing Allocations Policy. The new policy will provide a basis for addressing housing need within Moray and also enable existing council tenants to have an increased opportunity to move if they have to. The Council will introduce a quota system with 30% of all allocations of housing being made available for transfer applicants.
The Council has recently sent out 2958 update forms to enable all applicants to be considered equally in light of the new changes. Jill Stewart, Chief Housing Officer said
“The new policy will recognise the housing need of people applying for Council housing in Moray.” She continued that “the policy and the quotas for allocations will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that we are meeting the identified needs of applicants”. Mrs Stewart reminded applicants who have not yet completed their Housing Application update form that they must send this back to the Council before the 24 March 2005 to ensure that their application remains on the Housing Waiting list.
