New Community Project For Lhanbryde
Date -25 May 2005 Return to previous page

The Lhanbryde Community Challenge Group have recently secured further funding to enable them to host a range of opportunities to suit the needs of the local community.

The Group currently operate from offices at 40 Glenesk Road, Lhanbryde and were recently awarded £38,000 of funding through the European Social Fund Objective 3 Programme and Moray Youthstart (Social Inclusion Partnership).  This will go towards the running costs associated with the premises and staff requirements allowing support to be offered to volunteers in Lhanbryde through a new and innovative project.   Philip Ritchie, Manager for the “Resources Project” said that he was delighted that the Group had secured the necessary funding and added “This is a very exciting project and there will be many opportunities for the community to participate in and take advantage of during the next year”.

Some of the aims of the project include: assessing training needs in the community, developing a Lhanbryde website, offering web design training and the creation of a support structure for volunteers through the development of a volunteer database and volunteering handbook.  This work adds to the current services offered through 40 Glenesk Road, the groups learning centre.  The group already employ a part-time worker to offer access to office resources, meeting and training facilities and to develop training opportunities available to the community through the organisation.
