A Walk to Red Tangie and Pikey Hill
Date -16 Jun 2005 Return to previous page

Join Doug Hawkes, Moray Coast Countryside Ranger on Sunday 19th June 2005 for a great walk through sheep pasture, heather moor and pinewood, to a saddle between Red Tangie and Pikey Hill.  Enjoy the fabulous views south to the Cairngorm summits and north to the Firth and Sutherland hills beyond.  See the new turbines of the Cairn Uish wind farm and look out for moorland birds galore.

If you would like to come along meet at 2 p.m. at the car park at Bardonside which is 2½ miles beyond Thomshill (Birnie) on a classified minor road.  Follow the road sign to Birnie from Glen Moray Drive, New Elgin and head south to the hills.

The walk will be a distance of 6 miles and will take 3 hours plus time for a picnic at the top.
