National Theatre of Scotland and Tag Theatre with Moray Council Present The Crucible by Arthur Miller
Date -05 Dec 2005 Return to previous page

An exciting opportunity has arisen for people in Moray to take part in a professional theatre production!

As part of the National Theatre of Scotland’s Learning Programme TAG Theatre will present a professional production of Arthur Miller’s’ The Crucible.   The production will be staged at the Universal Hall, Findhorn during the week of 24th April 2006.

For this production the professional cast will be joined by a cast of local people drawn from the areas the play visits.  The  ‘Moray community cast’ will rehearse in the weeks leading up to the production and then join TAG for technical and dress rehearsals and 4 performances of the play.  For this process to work a full cast of 25 is required with about 13 then being selected to take parts in the production.  Those not selected will continue to rehearse the play in order that TAG have a fully prepared cast that they will integrate into the production.  It is hoped that those rehearsing the parts taken by TAG will have an opportunity to be involved in other parts of The Crucible project.  Chris Lee will lead rehearsals with regular visits being made by TAG Director, Guy Hollands.  In order to be considered for the ‘community cast’ you must be at least 12 years of age and be able to attend all rehearsals.

Two Introductory Workshops have been organised for Thursday 15th December in Moray Music Centre, Francis Place, Elgin and on Monday 19th December in the Supper Room of Elgin Town Hall, from 7 – 9 pm. Rehearsals will begin in early January when the cast will be selected through an audition process.  Anyone wishing to take part in this project must come to at least one (preferably both) of the Introductory Workshops when the rehearsal schedule will be available.
