Moray Council Success in the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Performance Networks Awards 2005
Date -13 Dec 2005 Return to previous page

The Moray Council Roads Maintenance Section has been recognised by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) by being short listed in the ‘Street Lighting’ and ‘Highways and Winter Maintenance’ sections at APSE’s first ever Performance Networks Awards and going on to win the ‘Highways and Winter Maintenance’ award.

The awards were hosted by Adrienne Lawler of Sky News and the BBC who told delegates that the awards were "showcasing the best in public services" adding that "everyone had done well" in getting to the finals stage.

Councillor Bob Wilson, Chairman of the Environmental Services Committee said, “This recognition is a tremendous achievement for all front line staff and other staff that work in Roads Maintenance.  Whilst the Council continues to give a high priority to roads maintenance it is a difficult task to balance available funds with maintenance demands.  Performance networks are about how well limited resources are used to give the best possible service.  The challenge now is to use these achievements as stepping-stones to even greater efficiencies and effectiveness”.

The Moray Council has been a Member of APSE for many years.  Members are committed to promoting quality public services via networking, the sharing of information and best practice.
