Elgin Library Learning Centre Upgrade of Lighting
Date -25 Jan 2007 Return to previous page

To allow the essential upgrading of lighting in the Learning Centre at Elgin Library, the Reference and Learning Centre area will be closed to the public from 6pm every evening during the week beginning 5 February.

An alternative service will be available for those seeking to use computers and reference material but the number of computers available will be reduced for these two hours each evening.

Commenting on this essential work Alistair Campbell, Libraries & Museums Manager identifies it as necessary to meet the ever increasing needs of library users.

"Since the library was opened over 10 years ago we have experienced an unprecedented growth in the use of this service, with a whole range of courses and learning opportunities now available.  The existing lighting was inadequate for modern needs and must be replaced.

This development is the first phase in upgrading the Learning Centre, with the next phase being the replacement of the existing computers by the end of April.

While there will be some short term disruption during the week that the lighting is upgraded, the ever growing number of users of the Learning Centre and Reference Services will clearly benefit from these improvements."
