Award ceremony and civic reception for Moray blood donors
Date -28 Mar 2007 Return to previous page

The Moray Council hosted an Award Ceremony and Civic Reception to honour blood donors in the Moray area, yesterday, Tuesday 27th March 2007 at Elgin Town Hall.

The event recognised the dedication of blood donors who have donated a minimum of 50 life saving pints of blood each and in doing so have helped the community and saved the lives of patients throughout Scotland.

Blood donors and partners attended the event along with local Councillors and representatives of the Northeast of Scotland Blood Transfusion Service.

Councillor Eddie Coutts, Convener of the Moray Council, who presented the Awards said, "The Moray Council is delighted to again take this opportunity to mark the enormous contribution that the donors have made to this vital service and recognise their dedication and commitment. I would hope that this can become an annual event".

"In congratulating those here tonight I would also encourage others, particularly the young people in our community, to become donors too and help save lives".

Lynne Willdigg, Donor Services Manager for Aberdeen & North East Scotland Blood Transfusion Service said, "We are delighted to be presenting these awards in the Moray area for the second time. Blood donors in this area are amongst the best in the UK so this gives us the chance to thank all our valuable, regular donors from the area without them having to travel through to Aberdeen for our regional award ceremony which takes place each October. We certainly hope that this will become a popular annual event in the Moray calendar".
