The Rural Environmental Action Project (REAP) has been awarded the contract to take forward the ongoing work of the Keith regeneration project.
REAP won the competitive tendering process and will be taking forward the project until the end of June 2008.
Projects it will be working on include event promotion, website development, a Keith shopping bag scheme and the VisitScotland Pride and Passion scheme.
REAP will be working in full consultation with the local community and will report to the Keith steering group which consists of representatives from local community organisations and public bodies.
Based in Keith, REAP has been involved in a wider range of community consultation and economic development activities in the past, but this is the first time it has had the chance to get involved in such a way in Keith.
Kevin McDermot, of REAP, said: We are really pleased to have been awarded this contract and to be so heavily involved in regeneration work within the town.
“We hope that we can help support the work of the Keith regeneration project from our offices in Mid Street and that people feel able to come in and see us if they want to discuss any of the tasks we have been charged with.”
The work will tie in with the proposed redevelopment of Reidhaven Square which is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
The Keith regeneration project is jointly funded by HIE Moray, Moray Council and the European Regional Development Fund.
REAP is based at 177 Mid Street and can be contacted on 01542 888070 or by e-mail at reap@csv.org.uk
