Moray councillors have agreed to changes in the structure of the council’s main service committees.
The existing policy, environmental services and education and social services committees will be replaced by six new committees.
They will be children and young people, health and social care, planning and regulatory services, economic development and infrastructure, policy and resources and communities.
Each committee will comprise 13 elected members.
The remit of the children and young people committee will include education, child protection, youth justice, libraries and sport.
Health and social care will cover community care, health improvement, social work and criminal justice, while the responsibilities of planning and regulatory services will include planning, environmental health and trading standards.
Economic development and infrastructure’s remit will include transport, environmental protection and waste management.
The policy and resources committee will have responsibility for budget matters, corporate policies and performance reporting, while the communities committee will take on responsibility for housing, community safety and social inclusion.
Only the audit and performance review committee and the licensing committee are unaffected by the changes.
The new structure has been devised to enable the council to operate in a more cohesive and focused way as part of the new concordat between local authorities and the Scottish Government.
