The first round of grants to help fund Year of Homecoming events in Moray has been approved by the council’s tourism steering group.
The biggest award - £1,500 – will go to Right Lines Production for a family comedy theatre show called the Great Tartan Haggis of Tooriebrochan.
It will employ locally-based professionals in all aspects of the production and 75% of the cast will be children.
Dufftown 2000 Ltd, Portknockie Community Association and Edinvillie Community Hall have each been given £1,000 towards local projects, while Cabrach and Mortlach Community Association has been awarded £900 for Homecoming gala events.
Craigellachie Village Council will receive £410 towards the cost of staging a ceilidh evening.
The next round of awards will be considered by the tourism steering group in June, with May 27 the deadline for applications.
