Sixty of Moray’s leading young musicians are tuning up in preparation for a concert at Elgin Town Hall on Friday evening.
The Moray Schools Youth Orchestra is spending this week rehearsing under the baton of acclaimed conductor Nigel Boddice, who teaches at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
It is the ninth year that the weeklong rehearsals – all culminating in a public concert - have been staged and the seventh that Mr Boddice has taken charge. He is a former principal trumpet with the BBC Scotland Symphony Orchestra.
The get-together of the area’s young musical talent has once again been organised by the head of Moray Council’s instrumental instruction service, John Mustard.
Friday’s concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets, costing £4 (£2 concessions), will be available at the door.
