Plans to breathe new life into an Elgin town centre building have been given the go-ahead by Moray councillors.
They approved an application by businessman David Boyd to alter and extend the former Elgin Club in Commerce Street to create an entertainment venue with restaurant, bars, a nightclub and boutique hotel rooms.
Similar proposals for the building were approved three years ago only for the application to be called in by Historic Scotland which expressed concern at the scale of the redevelopment.
The club, a long-established haunt of Elgin's professional class, closed down in 2002 and has lain vacant since.
The latest application was approved unanimously.
A report to Moray Council's planning and regulatory services committee said: "The development will secure the future of the B-listed Elgin Club and transform what is presently a disused building into a vibrant entertainment venue to enhance the vitality of this edge-of-centre site."
