Moray Council’s community learning and development service in the Bishopmill East and New Elgin areas of Elgin has received a glowing follow-up report from HM inspectors of education.
It follows an initial report in May 2007 which highlighted a number of points for action and the service was requested to submit a self-evaluation on progress within two years.
The inspectors have accepted the self-evaluation as a clear and accurate statement of the progress which has been achieved by the service and its partners.
Of the four areas highlighted, progress in three has been evaluated as ‘very good’ and the other as ‘good’.
An accompanying letter from the inspection team said: “There has been a great deal of change throughout the period since the inspection.
“The council and its partners have continued to work towards more effective service delivery.
“The evidence provided in support of this self-evaluation is clear and robust. As a result of the progress made, HM inspectors will make no further visits to the authority in connection with the report of May 2007.”
The inspection report was welcomed by Donald Duncan, Moray Council’s director of educational services.
He said: “This report demonstrates the progress made by community learning and development services in their quest to deliver high quality and meaningful services to the people of Moray.”
