Damage to a bridge on the A98 on the outskirts of Cullen could see the road closed for at least three to four weeks.
Moray Council engineers carried out a further inspection of the bridge, which carries traffic over the Cullen Burn on the western edge of the town, earlier today.
All four corners of the bridge were undermined by floodwater following the storms which hit the north and north-east early last week.
The road was closed and diversions put in place immediately the extent of the damage became apparent last Friday.
Discussions will take place between Moray Council, utilities companies and local landowners before repair work can begin.
The Bridge of Isla on the B9022 near Rothiemay also suffered severe damage to one of its piers during the floods and it too remains closed. Council engineers have so far been unable to give an estimate of when it might reopen.
A Moray Council spokesman said any inconvenience to motorists and to local communities affected by the bridge closures was regretted.
He said: “We will be doing everything in our power to have the roads reopened as quickly as possible.
“However, both bridge repairs will involve a considerable amount of work and we would ask the public to be patient.”
