Moray Council is to offer courses for people working towards the Life in the United Kingdom test – a requirement for those seeking to gain British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain in the country.
The council’s education and social care department already runs English classes for speakers of other languages through the Scottish Funding Council.
Next month it will also be offering courses to help people prepare for the Life in the United Kingdom test, which covers topics such as history, culture, law, politics and traditions.
The classes are approximately 20 hours and students then progress to an external centre for the computer-based test which consists of 24 multiple-choice questions and is offered in around 60 centres across the country.
Anyone interested in progressing with the classes can find out more by calling Penny Watt on 07779 999222 or by e-mailing penny.watt@moray.gov.uk
Those unsure about whether they need to take the test should get advice from the Immigration Inquiry Bureau on 0870 606 7766 or from www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk
