Summer of stories at Moray libraries

Date Added - 27/06/12

Learning library shelf books 2

The Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge Scotland is nearly here and Moray Council’s libraries service is delighted to be offering local children the opportunity to take part and to be encouraging them to pick up a book for fun.

Each year the challenge is based around an exciting theme which seeks to inject fun and creativity into reading to draw in and motivate primary school children to read for pleasure. This year’s theme, Storylab, takes them on an imaginative adventure based on the power of stories.

Run by the Reading Agency in partnership with 30 library services and Tesco Bank, the challenge aims to reach more than 35,000 children across Scotland.

The programme provides inspiration to join the library and read six books during the summer break from school, a time when traditionally there is a dip in children's literacy skills.

Storylab will be available to children across Moray from close of school on Thursday, June 28 and will run until Saturday, August 25.  For more details, please contact your local library.  All 15 static libraries will be taking part and the staff are looking forward to a summer of sharing books with young readers.
