New parking arrangements in place

New parking arrangements are now in place at Elgin’s Cooper Park in a positive move to improve access for users of both the public library and the park and to discourage all-day parking.

From Monday to Saturday inclusive, between 9am and 5pm, parking will be limited to three hours.

Councillor Fiona Murdoch, chairman of Moray Council’s economic development and infrastructure services committee, said the new arrangements were a sensible approach to improving access for service users.

She said: “We have listened to the concerns of the public, we have consulted effectively in relation to the most appropriate parking period and we are of the firm view that these new arrangements will also improve safety within the Cooper Park by seeking to eliminate all-day parking.

“The Cooper Park is a key amenity for Moray, as is Elgin library, and these new arrangements should be of particular benefit.”
