With winter fast approaching, householders in Moray are being reminded to take advantage of the Scottish Government’s offer of free home insulation.
Over 1500 households have already taken up the offer and have had loft and/or wall insulation installed in their home.
A further 200 home owners have expressed an interest and are waiting for their homes to be surveyed.
Loft and cavity fill insulation is an effective way of reducing both domestic energy bills and carbon emissions. In an uninsulated loft, 25% of heat is lost through the roof.
Assuming the property is suitable, loft or cavity fill insulation – or a top-up of existing loft insulation – is available free of charge.
Moray Council are working in partnership with SIG Management and Macrow Energy who will carry out initial surveys and the installation of insulation materials.
Letters were sent to all home owners in Moray and surveyors from Macrow and SIG are currently calling on home owners – primarily in Elgin and communities to the east – who have not yet requested a survey.
Surveyors will carry out photographic identification and householders have been asked to note that, although other companies are currently operating in the area, only Macrow and SIG are contracted by Moray Council.
Householders who have not already done so should call the Home Energy Scotland hotline – free from a landline – on 0800 512 012 and ask for the Moray free insulation offer.
