Portessie school serves the village of Portessie and has a catchment area out to the farms around Rathven and Strathlene. The community employment is a mix of agriculture, shipyards, fishing and service industry. This means that pupils come from a diversity of backgrounds with varying levels of needs and demands. The school is a warm and welcoming place, it is held high in the community and has links over generations of families as it was secondary school as well as a primary school in its early days.
