Alves school is situated at the side of the A96 Forres to Elgin road, at the west end of the village. The building was originally built as a junior secondary school, but is now used as a primary school. The building itself is of traditional design and fairly typical or other local rural schools. The teaching block has, in recent years, seen some modernisation which has created very spacious, comfortable areas for learning. The hall block houses a large hall with a variety of physical education equipment, and is used as a canteen at lunch time.
