| Description |
A Registered Social Landlord is usually a Housing Association or Housing Co-operative. RSLs build, improve and manage houses, mainly for rent. A management committee made up of tenants and volunteers who support the aims of the association runs them. Most of their funding comes from Communities Scotland. They only register Registered Social Landlords, who agree to manage their houses to a high standard. Some Registered Social Landlords have houses all over Scotland and some have others only in a particular area. The Council can recommend people for tenancies of a RSL. It is then up to the RSL to decide whether or not to offer the person a property. You can also apply direct to the RSL. Some provide sheltered housing, houses with different levels of support and some have houses that are accessible to wheelchairs.
