FOI Request - Tourist Road Signs

Request 101000411518

I would like to request some information regarding brown tourist road signs:

1.  How many brown signs have been erected throughout your local authority area?
2.  It would also be helpful to have an idea of how much it might cost a local authority/ tourist board to erect a brown sign and an outline of the procedure for acquiring one.

1. The Moray Council do not currently have a record of the number of tourist signs which have been erected within Moray Councils area. This information is therefore exempt under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

2. The average cost to install a sign in the rural environment is £1500 although in the urban setting this will be more like £300. The procedure to follow when acquiring tourist signing is exempt under Section 25 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, information otherwise accessible on the Moray Council website. For ease of reference please find a link to the Moray Council Tourist Signposting Policy here.
