I would like to request the following information under the freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002:

•  The roads maintenance budget for each local authority area in Scotland for the last 5 fiscal years (2011-12 – 2016-17) in real terms and as a percentage of the total transport budget of the local authority. I would be grateful if you would provide me with this information in the following table:

• The current definition of ‘pothole’ for the purposes of your local authority

The figures above represent our Capital & Revenue Road Maintenance Budget in each year, including Street Lighting, Winter maintenance, Car Parks etc.

We do not have a definition of a pothole, however our ‘Road Asset Management Plan – Carriageway Lifecycle Plan’ contains some information on page 20 regarding the categorisation of carriageway surface defects which may be of use.
