FOI Request - Children Taken Into Care

Request 101001361520

I would like to submit a Freedom of Information request in relation to children being taken into care.

• Can I ask how many children have been taken into care since the beginning of 2014?

• Can these figures be broken down into age and gender?

• Can I ask the reason why these children were taken into care?

•  Specifically, can I ask if any children were taken into care due to levels of obesity? What age and gender were these children?

Response 16-12-2016

1. Since January 2014, 175 children have been taken into the care of the Local Authority.  This does not mean that all of these children have been accommodated by the Council as 81 of the children were Looked After at Home under a Compulsory Supervision Order.  The rest of children, 94, were Looked After and Accommodated by the council.

Please note that the number of admissions is different to the number of children as some children were admitted more than once during the period.
