FOI Request Neurological Conditions in Care

Our request relates to the progressive neurological conditions of Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, Huntington’s disease, and also to acquired traumatic brain injury. It excludes the following conditions: headache, epilepsy, stroke, dementia, spina bifida, cerebral palsy.

1. How many residents with one of the neurological conditions specified in this FOIA request in your local authority area are in an older people’s care home with no specific registration for people with neurological conditions, an older people’s nursing or care home with a registration for neurological conditions or a specialist residential centre for people with neurological conditions, broken down by age group, as at 1 March 2017?  If it is not possible to provide figures for this date, please use the latest date known and state what this is. If it is not possible to break down the figures by the age groups requested due to possibly breaching the data protection rights of individuals, please indicate numbers for people aged up to 65, and 65 and over.

2. Does your local authority have a specialist neurological rehabilitation community team? If it does, does the team provide support to residents and staff in care homes?

3. How many residents with a neurological condition as specified by this FOIA request in your local authority area have been assessed as requiring personal care as defined by the Community Care and Health (Scotland) 2002 Act, broken down by age, as at 1 November 2015? If it is not possible to state figures for this date, please use the latest date known and state what this is. If it is not possible to break down the figures by the age groups requested due to possibly breaching the data protection rights of individuals, please indicate numbers for people aged up to 65, and 65 and over.
