FOI Request Winter Weather Working for Refuse Collectors

We request the following information as of todays date, unless otherwise specified:


1. Details and documents showing or tending to show any policies that the Local Authority have in relation to their employees (generally, as opposed to only refuse collectors) working in winter weather conditions
2. Details of and documents showing or tending to show any policies that the Local Authority have in relation to Local Authority refuse collectors working in winter weather conditions
3. Details of and documents relating to any protective footwear provided by the Local Authority to employees (generally, as opposed to only refuse collectors) for working in winter weather conditions. We are only concerned with footwear which is designed to prevent employees from slipping on snow or ice.

10. Details of and documents relating to the content of any training provided to Local Authority refuse collectors in respect of working in winter weather conditions, in particular in relation to loading bins onto refuse vehicles.
11. Details of and documents relating to risk assessments carried out by the Local Authority in relation to their employees (generally, as opposed to only refuse collectors) working in winter weather conditions.
12.  Details of and documents relating to risk assessments carried out by the Local Authority in relation to their refuse collectors working in winter weather conditions, in particular any risk assessments which take into account the loading of bins onto refuse vehicles.

Q3 No specific footwear provided by Roads Maintenance/Fleet/Stores that is designed to specifically prevent slippage on ice or snow. Car park attendants are issued with standard footwear, however following a severe winter in 2009/10 cleats were purchased for car park attendants
