FOI Request PE Injuries

Request 101001620106

Please can you tell me how many school pupils sustained injuries while participating in timetabled physical education lessons (NOT extra-curricular activities) between August 2014 and June 2017?

Please detail:
* The nature of the injury (eg head injury; laceration; broken bone)
* The specific activity in which the pupil was participating when the injury occurred (eg dodge ball; gymnastics; volleyball).
* Any first aid administered at the scene?
* Did the pupil require hospital treatment?

I would appreciate if you could arrange responses to the aforementioned questions into the following age groups:

4-7 years
8-11 years
12-15 years
16-18 years

Also, please outline what, if any, measures have been implemented to reduce the risk of further accidents during P.E classes (including the banning of any activities).
