FOI Request Moray Leisure Centre

Request 101001660634

I would like to know how much money has been paid to Moray Leisure Centre over the past 24 years from Council funds.
How much did it cost to build and maintain Moray Leisure Centre over the past 24 years.
Please break the figure down by year where possible.

Response 07-12-2017

The amounts include payments to Moray Leisure Centre for the operation of the Leisure facilities. We pay a grant to the Leisure Centre as they provide leisure services on behalf of the Council (Operational Grant) and amounts paid in respect of provision of services for early learning and child care to pre 5 children.
The totals for the years 2013/14 to 2016/17 includes contributions towards the replacement ice plant.
No data available prior to 2002/03.
Data for amounts paid for pre 5 services available only for the years 2006/07 onwards.

According to press articles available in Elgin Local Heritage centre in the library the approximate cost to the council for building the leisure centre was between £3.4-£4.4 million however we are unable to confirm the exact amount as our finance records do not go back that far.
