FOI Request - Accommodation Waiting Times

I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act for information held by the council

Specifically, I would like the following information:

1. The total number of people currently on the waiting list for council housing properties, broken down by bedroom number?
2. The number of people currently on the waiting list for housing in each area of the council, broken down by property bedroom number?
3. The anticipated waiting time for council accommodation, broken down by bedroom number.
4. The anticipated waiting time for council accommodation in each geographical area, broken down by bedroom property number.
5. The average waiting time for council accommodation, broken down by bedroom number, in each of the last ten years.
6. The average waiting time for council accommodation in each geographical area, broken down by bedroom number, in each of the last ten years.

1. The total number of people currently on the housing list (i.e. all applicants on our homeless, waiting and transfer lists) is attached here. The information provided is for the applicant’s first area of preference.

2. Please see attachment above in response to question one. 

3. The average time in days supplied for tenancies starting within past ten reporting years to 9 July 2020 is attached here.

We operate a needs based Allocations Policy.  It is published on our website here.

Points are awarded based on an applicant’s circumstances.  Generally the total number of points determines the applicant’s position on the housing list at any given time.  Our Allocations Policy does not award any points associated with length of time on the list.  An applicant’s circumstances may worsen or improve during the life of their housing application.  This means their total number of points may be reassessed and an applicant’s position on the list may change frequently.  It can also be influenced by a number of other factors including new applicants joining the list, applicants leaving the list or being rehoused, and the number of empty properties that become available to let.
