I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act for information held by the council

Specifically, I would like the following information:

1. The average waiting time for council accommodation, broken down by bedroom number, in each of the last ten years.
2. The average waiting time for council accommodation in each geographical area, broken down by bedroom number, in each of the last ten years.
3. The longest waiting time for council accommodation, broken down by bedroom number, in each of the last ten years.
4. The longest waiting time for council accommodation in each geographical area, broken down by bedroom number, in each of the last ten years.

We operate a needs based Allocations Policy.  It is published on our website here.

Points are awarded based on an applicant’s circumstances.  Generally the total number of points determines the applicant’s position on the housing list at any given time.  Our Allocations Policy does not award any points associated with length of time on the list.  An applicant’s circumstances may worsen or improve during the life of their housing application.  This means their total number of points may be reassessed and an applicant’s position on the list may change frequently.  It can also be influenced by a number of other factors including new applicants joining the list, applicants leaving the list or being rehoused, and the number of empty properties that become available to let.

4. Disclosure of geographical areas, of which many are small and rural, could easily lead to the identification of individuals. This information is therefore exempt under section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, personal information.
