Council By-Election 2022

A Council by-election will be held on Thursday 3 November 2022 to elect one member (Councillor) to the Buckie ward of the Moray Council.

About this election

Local Government (Council) elections are operated under the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system. Voters use numbers to mark their ballot paper ranking candidates in preferential order.

Moray Council area is covered by eight multi-member wards. Each ward has either 3 or 4 councillor seats. Due to the resignation of Cllr Christopher Price (Lib Dem) from the Buckie ward (Ward 3) a vacancy will be filled by a by-election on Thursday 3 November 2022.

Poll

A poll will take place in Ward 3 - Buckie on Thursday 3 November, between 7am - 10pm. Please refer to your poll card sent to you in early October for details of your polling station. 

Postal Votes

If you are not already a postal voter and you require a postal vote for this by-election please contact the Electoral Registration Officer) details at foot this page) to apply. Applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 19 October.

Postal vote packs for this by-election will issued from Monday 24 October. 
If you lost or spoil your postal vote pack, please contact the Election Office by emailing elections@moray.gov.uk or call the elections helpline on 013434 563334 for a replacement from Friday 28 October.

When returning your postal vote, please be aware of industrial action which may delay your postal vote being returned.

The STV by-election count will be conducted manually on Friday 4 November in Buckie. Results will be available around 1pm that day.
