FOI Request - Councillor Complaints
1) Number of complaints within a complaints policy made about councillors in your local authority in
2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 thus far.
2) If any, can you please down break these complaints by (i) who the complaint was made against, (ii) the reason for the complaint, (iii) the date the complaint was lodged, and (iv) who lodged the complaint.
1. Not held. No formal complaints have been raised in terms of the council’s policy within this timeframe. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.
The Council’s monitoring officer /depute monitoring officer try to deal with concerns informally by provision of advice.
The formal complaints process to the Ethical Standards Commissioner is used occasionally.
