FOI Request - Disability Access in Schools

Request 101003401780

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information regarding schools with disabled access in the UK.

Please could I have the following data broken down per school in the area?

1. Does the school have disabled access to every building?
2. If the answer to question 1 is no, how many do not?
3. If the answer to question 1 is no, are there plans to change this?
4. How many disabled children are there at the school currently?
5. How much money per year does the council invest in disabled children in each school? Either an overall figure or per child.

Clarification sought and received 28-09-2023

Response 18-10-2023

1. No, if relating to wheelchair access; otherwise all our schools are accessible.
2. 3
3. If the need arises to support a young person, adaptations would be made.
4. 534
5. In 2022/23 the council spent the following on children with disabilities.

Equipment & furniture £47,255.25
Accessibility to buildings £31,511.22

This does not include staff costs, as it is not possible to break the costs down to children with disabilities.
