Request 101003470013

Under the Freedom of Information Act (Scotland) 2022, I would like to request the following information:

1. Total number of Garden Waste Permits issued in each of the individual years, since it begun in 2019.
2. The operating cost to carry out Garden Waste collection in each of the individual years, since it begun in 2019.
3. The admin cost to issue Garden Waste Permits in each of the individual years, since it begun in 2019.
4. The expected number of Garden Waste Permits to be issued 2024/25
5. The meeting minutes in where the increase to the Garden Waste Permit cost was decided

Clarification sought and received 06-02-2024

Response 07-02-2024

1. 2019 - 20,408
2020 - 21,659
2021 - 22,230
2022 - 21,936
2023 - 21,999

2. Not held. The garden waste collection is not a service which is run in isolation. Garden waste is collected as a mixed material along with food waste which the council is required to collect FOC. Bins containing both material streams must have a valid permit displayed in order for the bins to be serviced. Therefore, our collection costs would apply even if the bins only contained food waste and as such we do not have an isolated cost for collection of garden waste. Information that is not held falls under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - Information not held.

3. 2019 - £11,263
2020 - £11,572
2021 - £12,462
2022 - £12,515
2023 - £13,538

**Costs are approximate and based on staff time to produce, print and post.**

4. Based on the average number of sales per annum since 2019, it is anticipated that we achieve between 21,000 - 22,000 permit sales in 2024/25
