Business Alert – Dangerous Counterfeit ‘Clipper’ Cigarette Lighters

Counterfeit lighters have been sold by some wholesalers in Scotland. The manufacturers of genuine ‘Clipper’ lighters have issued guidance  on how to identity the fakes. The fakes do not meet safety standards and pose a risk to users.

Retailers are asked to check their stock and remove any counterfeit items from sale and contact us for further advice.

Tobacco - Change of Minimum Age

From 1st October 2007 the law for selling tobacco will change. It will be illegal to sell tobacco to anyone under the age of 18 (an increase from 16).  Full details are available from this Scottish Government website. You can down load a statutory notice here.

DVD Street Traders

Moray Council is urging businesses to close their doors to DVD street traders in a crack down on a trade that’s costing the UK economy millions. Trading Standards have received information that street traders are offering DVDs at workplaces in Moray.
