FOI Request - Mandatory Relief for English Registered Charity

Request 101003720711

Will a registered charity, register on the Chairty commission England with a register charity number in England be entitled to mandatory charity relief if the English registered Charity takes occupation of a property within your billing authority and uses the property in accordance relevant conditions for getting relief. For example, the property is licenced to the charity and the property is used wholly or mainly used for charitable purposes.

In order to be entitled to charity relief from the payment of Non Domestic Rates in Moray Council, the charity must be registered with OSCR (Scottish Charity Register). There would therefore be no entitlement for relief for a charity registered with Charity Commission England.
