FOI Request - Pupil Behaviour in Schools

1. How many incidents of ‘violence, aggression and challenging behaviour’ have been logged in your schools in each academic year, for the past 8 academic years? i.e. 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2023/2024, 2024/2025?
Can you then break these annual figures down into;
a) Pupil to pupil
b) Pupil to staff
2. Can you isolate and provide the number of physical assaults (i.e. not verbal assaults) in your schools for each year from the 2017/2018 to 2024/2025 academic year?
Can you then break these annual figures down into;
a) Pupil to pupil
b) Pupil to staff
I am not looking for any of these numbers to be broken down into individual school/facility level.

Pupil to pupil incidents are recorded in individual pupil files. In order to get the information requested we would have to read through thousands of files individually, which would take more than 40 hours. would be excessive cost. This task would cost the Council in excess of £600. In accordance with section 12 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, excessive cost, we are therefore unable to comply with your request.
