With consideration of the requirements of the FOI Act, please can you kindly provide the following information:
1. Approximately how many children have 1-to-1 access to a council-supplied portable digital device (iPad/laptop/Chromebook), and if available, from what year or key stage does general 1-to-1 access start?
2. Approximately how many children in council schools do not have 1-to-1 access to a council-supplied portable digital device, and what is the ratio of devices to children for this group of children?
3. Are the following sites blocked on these council-supplied children's devices, and if so on what date was each blocked?:
a) Yahoo search (uk.search.yahoo.com)
b) Brave search (search.brave.com)
c) Wikipedia and Wikipedia images (wikimedia.org & upload.wikimedia.org)
4. Does the council maintain a risk assessment for digital device usage in council schools, if so please can you provide this?
Response 25-07-2025
1. The Council does not currently have a strategy for the provision of 1:1 devices. The approved device to pupil ratios are 1:4 in Secondary schools and 1:6 in Primary schools. Schools supplement device provision through devolved budgets.
