1.  Total spend on school transport per financial year as below. We don’t record the splits between hackney licensed vehicles, buses, coaches, minibuses and non PCV’s.

April 2022 – March 2023 £4,579,617
April 2023 – March 2024 £5,137,800
April 2024 – March 2025 £5,164,552
April 2025 – 26th September 2025. £1,722,237.

2.  Entitled home to school transport is not charged for. Pupils travelling to out of zone schools by choice are able to use the U22 National Entitlement Card to access free transport on the commercial bus network.

3.  Historically the Council does not record school transport numbers or retain numbers of pupils year by year. The database is live, advising of the total number of pupils on any one date. The current number of pupils in receipt of free transport at 26 September 2025 is 2270.
