If you require an extract or a copy of a birth/death/marriage certificate you should apply to the Registrar of the district where the event was originally registered.
You can call in person, fill in an application form and pay the statutory fee or you can write giving the details required along with the appropriate fee to the Registrar of the District. Certificates can be posted out.
Payment - cheques or postal orders should be made payble to The Moray Council and crossed. Applications from outside the United Kingdom should have cheques and money orders made payble in £ sterling and include return postage. Payment can also be made by debit/credit card at the Elgin Register office only.
This applies to all certificate applications from entries in registers from 1855, when registration started.
