If you require an extract or a copy of a birth/death/marriage certificate you can apply to any Scottish Registration Office provided the event was originally registered in Scotland.

You can call in person, fill in an application form and pay the statutory fee or you can write giving the details required along with the appropriate fee to the Registrar of the District. Certificates can be posted out.

Payment

Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to The Moray Council and crossed. Applications from outside the United Kingdom should have cheques and money orders made payable in £ sterling and include return postage. Payment can also be made by debit/credit card at any Moray Register office. Card charges are applicable for credit card payments.

This applies to all certificate applications from entries in registers from 1855, when registration started.
