This presents our second Homelessness Strategy 2010 -2015,  (35 pages, 217 KB)which replaces the original Homelessness Strategy 2003 - 2008 . (50 pages, 422 KB)

The Homelessness Strategy 2010 -2015  (35 pages, 217 KB) builds on the achievements of the previous strategy.  It sets out how we, with our partners, will prevent and alleviate homelessness in Moray over the next five years.  It provides a clear direction for improving and developing services that we provide in relation to homelessness.

Inspection of the Council's Homelessness Service

The homelessness service provided by the Council was inspected in 2008 by Communities Scotland (the regulatory body at that time).   The homelessness service received a ‘C’ Grade which is deemed to be a fair performance.  You can view the report or a summary of the report on the Scottish Housing Regulator - http://www.scottishhousingregulator.gov.uk/ .  We have made a wide range of improvements to the homelessness service to address the issues raised in the report.

2012

The ambitious target of 2012, whereby applicants who are unintentionally homeless will be entitled to settled accommodation will be a major challenge for the Council.  Whilst supportive of this intention, it is recognised that at present the Council does not have the availability of housing stock to enable this to be achieved.
