Community Care - Home Care

General Information

The Moray Council provides support to vulnerable people living at home.  Care is available for a wide range of activities including:

  • personal care (washing, dressing)
  • help with medication
  • domestic support (cleaning, housework)
  • meal preparation
  • laundry
  • shopping
  • social care

The Moray Council Home Care Service employs around 350 Home Carers and is available throughout Moray.  The Moray Council also contracts with private care companies and service users are offered a choice of service provider following assessment.  The service can be accessed through GPs, Community Nursing staff, hospital ward staff or by direct application to your local Moray Council Community Care office.


Availability

The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Eligibility

People seeking to access the service must undergo a community care assessment of need.

Fees/charges

A financial assessment forms part of the community care assessment and charges for the service are made according to means.  People who are in receipt of basic income support are not normally charged for their service.

Timescales

Applications for service are dealt with in accordance with the degree of urgency required.  Applicants will be notified if they are to be added to a waiting list for assessment.
