What is the MAT Scheme?

The MAT Scheme has been set up by The Moray Council in consultation with voluntary organisations to provide help with getting about within Moray. The scheme is for Moray Residents who have mobility problems.

MAT is funded and administered by The Moray Council and transport is provided by private taxis.

Who can join the MAT scheme?

To join the scheme you should be unable to use public transport due to your disability and have no reasonable access to private transport.

You will be able to join if:

1. You live in Moray

and

2. You receive Disability Living Allowance - Higher Mobility Component

or

You have a long term or permanent disability which seriously impairs your ability to walk and you cannot use conventional bus services. You will be assessed by our Medical Advisor - using the same rules that apply to the Disability Living Allowance - Higher Mobility Component.

or

You are registered blind

or

You receive a War Pension Mobility Supplement

How do I join the MAT Scheme?

View and Download an application form  and return it to:

MAT Scheme
Public Transport Unit
Academy Street
Elgin, IV30 1LL

Your application form will be assessed and we will let you know the outcome

If you qualify, you will be asked to submit 2 passport size photographs together with an annual fee of £5.00 (to help with the administration costs of the scheme)

You will then be issued with your MAT Card, a book of travel vouchers and a user guide.

What does the MAT Scheme offer?

Taxi journeys offer a 50% reduction up to a maximum of £5.00 per single journey

All journeys are to be within the Moray Council boundaries only

You may be acompanied by a carer on your journey at no cost. (other passengers will be asked to pay)
