Roads Maintenance
General Information
Roads Maintenance is responsible for all aspects of maintenance on statutory public roads, footways and verges including street lighting and the provision of a winter service.
Roads Maintenance also carries out maintenance works on Council owned car parks, bridges & structures and Council owned harbours as well as the provision of dredging these harbours.
Roads Maintenance has responsibility for approximately
- 1000 miles of road
- 450 miles of footpaths
- 468 bridges
- 16800 street lights
- 10500 road signs
This is maintained by a technical and administrative staff of twenty-five and a manual workforce of seventy-seven supplemented by contractors as necessary.

Emergency Faults
If you consider that the fault could cause immediate harm to people it would be appreciated if you could contact us immediately.
Non-Emergency Faults
Please use our on-line fault reporting eform 
to report all non-emergency faults, such as :-
- Road Surface faults (e.g. Potholes)
- Road Sign faults
- Street Light faults
- Damage to road bridges or walls
