The national New Community School's pilot initiative began in 1999. The concept of New Community School's (NCS) reflects the current priorities of the Scottish Executive and has the twin aims of raising educational attainment and of promoting social inclusion. The emphasis is the development of integrated working across all services supporting children, young people and families.
The Scottish Executive website contains details of the original NCS Prospectus and a series of national newsletters illustrating aspects of NCS development across Scotland. As of summer 2002, we are now in the rollout phase of NCS funding (to date funding has been allocated until 2004). Moray has combined this funding with another funding allocation (Changing Children’s Services). The rollout encompasses the whole of Moray and all schools are now designated New Community School's. The NCS approach is being taken forward through the interagency forum of a Local Community Network in each ASG (Associated School Group) area.
