The Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 received Royal Assent on 5 January 2006 and includes the following requirements to improve standards in the private rented sector:

• A revised Repairing Standard
• A Private Rented Housing Panel
• Rent Assessment Committees
• Greater rights for disabled tenants to have adaptations carried out to properties
