Moray Lifeline is for people thought to be at risk at home. To qualify for an alarm, you must be:
And
At risk because of any of the following:
The Lifeline Alarm with the traditional pendant trigger is available on request for those who are eligible. You can apply using the Moray Lifeline Application Form. You can do this online, or request a form from the Moray Council Contact Centre (01343 563005). Staff at the Contact Centre can also help you to complete the application.
Telecare is for people who cannot manage the standard Lifeline alarm, due to being unable to press the button, or due to memory problems. If you need Telecare sensors, we will carry out an assessment with you to find out which ones best suit your needs. You can request an assessment by calling the Contact Centre as above. You will then be visited by a Community Care Officer or Occupational Therapist to assess your needs. We will also check whether you need any other types of services.
If you are in hospital and need a Lifeline Alarm or Telecare sensors to help you when you return home, the ward staff will be able to refer you for an assessment.
Moray Lifeline is a free service. You may however be charged for replacement equipment if you lose or damage the items provided.
We ask you to test your Lifeline Alarm by pressing the pendant button once a month. If you have Telecare sensors, these will be checked during regular battery replacement visits from Moray Council staff.
If you live in your own home or a non-council rented property, you can receive the Lifeline Service. If you live in sheltered housing with its own warden-call system, it may still be possible to provide you with Telecare if you need it, and we would negotiate with your housing provider to see what is possible.
It is possible to link telecare sensors to a pager or table-top alarm within the home, instead of to the Lifeline alarm. So if your carer needs to be alerted when you need assistance, for example when you get out of bed, or open a door, a sensor can be provided for this. These items are provided by the Occupational Therapy Service. An Occupational Therapist will visit to assess which items you need.
