In November 1999 the Scottish Executive published the conclusions of the 'Strategic Roads Review'. The Keith Bypass was one
of six schemes or options that were assessed and deleted from the programme of major trunk road improvements .
The Scottish Executive concluded that there were alternative measures which represented more appropriate responses to the
identified transport problems.
A traffic management (road safety) scheme was implemented in Keith during 2000/2001. Details of the November 1999 Strategic
Roads Review is available through the link below.
Moray Council has lobbied the Scottish Parliament in the past for investment on the trunk roads and will continue to do so with its partners in the Highlands and Islands Regional Transport Partnership (Hitrans). The case for strategic transport infrastructure is set out in the Moray Structure Plan (April 2007).
